Courtney Cannon
Corporate Comunications Strategist
Every day, videos flood social media with no captions — and every day, deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers scroll right past them. Multiply that by 48 million people in the United States alone, and the business cost of inaccessibility becomes impossible to ignore.
This is the type of insight that drives Courtney.
As a deaf individual, Courtney has over a decade of experience working with organizations of all sizes, equipping them with both the cultural foundation and the practical tools to create workplaces and customer experiences where deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals feel genuinely seen and respected.
Courtney has helped organizations like Starbucks, San Diego State University, and Olark with inclusion strategies that actually work and translate the gap between good intentions and real action. This includes giving customer service teams the confidence to support their clients who are deaf or communicate differently, and workplaces the ability to fully collaborate with their deaf employees.
Inclusion isn’t charity. It’s good business — it starts with education, confidence, and clear action.
Courtney’s customized training and education are informed by years of providing ASL instruction, special education, and deaf education. Courtney brings something rare to the table: academic credentials, business fluency, and the lived experience that brings companies together with customers and employees in ways that expand business and brand perception through genuine inclusion and connection.
Inspired by years of watching vocabulary disappear the moment learners walk out the door, Courtney’s authentic, location-based, real-life ASL instruction connects language to real places and real situations — because movement and context are how we actually remember.
Whether speaking to a corporate audience, training a customer service team, or teaching signs at a local coffee shop, Courtney’s approach is the same: warm, direct, and grounded in the belief that deaf and hard-of-hearing people deserve an equivalent experience.
With a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing from Villanova University and a Master’s in Early Childhood Deaf Education from Fontbonne University, Courtney founded ASLwithCourtney, LLC to help businesses and organizations be genuinely inclusive of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community — not just compliant, but truly welcoming.
