Justin Stockton began his career in accessibility over 25 years ago, working as an application developer in the early days of web development. His journey into digital accessibility started in 2000 when he joined Development InfoStructure, Inc. (dba Devis), where he worked on what would become Disability.gov, the federal government’s website for comprehensive information about disability-related programs, services, policies, laws, and regulations. This experience opened his eyes to the critical importance of building inclusive digital experiences and established his commitment to accessibility as a core principle of good software development.

Over his 16 years at Devis, Justin not only championed accessibility awareness but also defined the organization’s internal agile software development process, resulting in the company achieving and maintaining a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 rating. This experience taught him how to embed accessibility into organizational processes at scale—a skill that would become central to his later work.

In 2016, Justin joined The Paciello Group (now TPGi) as a Senior Accessibility Engineer, where he led teams auditing and remediating accessibility issues for global financial services platforms. He provided expert consulting services to cross-functional teams, improving accessibility maturity across software development, design, QA, and product management processes. His technical expertise and deep understanding of WCAG guidelines, Section 508, and international accessibility standards (EN 301 549) made him a trusted advisor to enterprise clients.

Justin’s career evolved naturally from accessibility engineering to product development. As a Senior Software Engineer at TPGi, he architected and developed ARC Capture, a web extension that revolutionized how auditors document and publish accessibility audit results. He also spearheaded the creation of a reusable, accessible component library using Blazor, reducing code duplication and development time by 45%. His work demonstrated that accessible design and efficient development are not just compatible—they’re mutually reinforcing.

In 2022, Justin transitioned into product management, where he could leverage his technical expertise and accessibility knowledge at a strategic level. As Product Manager, he orchestrated the design and implementation of the next-generation ARC Platform, providing improved automated scanning and manual audit capabilities for enterprise customers. He championed the training and migration of over 1,000 existing customers to the new platform, partnered with stakeholders to define a new manual audit methodology that reduced average audit time by 35%, and launched new Help Desk offerings that improved support visibility across the entire product line.

Today, Justin brings a unique combination of technical depth, accessibility expertise, and product management experience to his work. Having walked the path from developer to accessibility engineer to product manager, he understands the challenges organizations face at every level—from individual contributors learning to implement accessible code, to executives building accessibility into their strategic planning. His approach to accessibility is pragmatic and results-oriented: he believes that sustainable accessibility programs require not just technical compliance, but cultural transformation—embedding accessibility into every phase of the development lifecycle, from initial design concepts through deployment and maintenance.
