Microsoft’s new product feedback program uses neurodivergent employees. Microsoft argues that accessibility should go beyond legal compliance to support neurodiverse ways of processing information, drawing on lived experience from neurodivergent employees.

The company launched an ongoing co-design and product feedback program after Neurodiversity Celebration Week, with 150 neurodivergent employees testing 10 products in real-world scenarios.

Feedback revealed common issues like cognitive overload, unclear workflows, and unnecessary friction; product teams are using this input to simplify experiences and improve clarity, control, and usability.

Microsoft is building a more consistent feedback system through the Inclusive Tech Lab, a participant pool of testers, and inclusive testing guidelines to embed lived experience early in product development.

Leaders and employees say this approach improves products for neurodivergent users and everyone else by making technology easier, more intuitive, and less stressful to use.
