The U.S. Department of Labor Expands Employment Initiative for Workers with Disabilities

The U.S. Department of Labor expands employment initiatives for workers with disabilities, announcing the expansion of the National Expansion of Employment Opportunities Network (NEON) initiative for fiscal year 2026. They are naming Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, New York, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia as core states.

NEON, administered by the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), provides technical assistance that connects workforce, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disability, and mental health agencies to strengthen employment opportunities for people with mental health conditions and related disabilities.

Launched in 2019, the initiative promotes data-informed strategies and evidence-based practices to remove employment barriers and improve competitive integrated employment outcomes.
