Along with new Apple Music features and system-wide enhancements, the iOS 26.4 Release includes accessibility improvements.

Accessibility Features

iOS 26.4 includes several new accessibility features. A new Reduce Bright Effects setting minimizes bright flashes when interacting with interface elements such as buttons. Subtitle and caption controls are now easier to access and customize directly from the captions icon while viewing media. Apple has also improved the Reduce Motion setting, making it more effective at limiting animations across the system, including those used in the Liquid Glass interface.

Other Updates & Improvements

One of the biggest updates in iOS 26.4 is focused on Apple Music. A new Playlist Playground feature, currently in beta, allows users to generate a playlist based on a simple description, automatically creating a title, description, and tracklist. Apple has also added a new Concerts feature, helping users discover nearby live shows from artists in their library while recommending new artists based on listening habits.

The update also introduces Offline Music Recognition in Control Center, allowing users to identify songs without an internet connection. Results are then delivered automatically once the device reconnects. An Ambient Music widget has also been added, offering quick access to curated playlists for Sleep, Chill, Productivity, and Wellbeing directly from the Home Screen. Apple Music has also received a visual update, with full-screen backgrounds now appearing on album and playlist pages for a more immersive experience.

The update also introduces eight new emoji, including an orca, trombone, landslide, ballet dancer, and a distorted face. Freeform gains new image creation and editing tools, along with access to a premium content library through Apple Creator Studio.

Reminders has been updated with the ability to mark tasks as urgent directly from the Quick Toolbar or by pressing and holding on a reminder. Users can also filter for urgent tasks within Smart Lists. Apple has also introduced Purchase Sharing improvements, allowing adult members of Family Sharing groups to use their own payment methods instead of relying on the family organizer.

Additional improvements in iOS 26.4 include better keyboard accuracy when typing quickly, along with a number of performance and stability enhancements.
