Marlee Matlin became the youngest-ever Best Actress Oscar winner at age 21 for her 1986 role in ‘Children of a Lesser God’.

She went on to a prolific career in film and TV, using her platform to raise awareness for the deaf community, including her notable role in the Oscar-winning film ‘CODA’.

The new award-winning documentary ‘Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore’ explores her life, career, and advocacy, including her contributions to closed captioning legislation.

The film, directed by Shoshannah Stern, uses sound design to simulate hearing loss, fostering empathy among viewers.

The Salt Spring Film Festival will present this documentary as part of its ‘Best of the Fests’ series, along with other films celebrating impactful women and social issues.
