Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez awarded $5 million to David Flink, CEO of Neurodiversity Alliance, as part of the Bezos Courage & Civility Award.
The Neurodiversity Alliance supports students with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia, and currently impacts over 600 American high schools and colleges.
This year’s award reflects a shift toward supporting grassroots leaders directly rather than giving funds to celebrities to redistribute to nonprofits.
Sánchez Bezos has a personal connection to the cause, having grown up with undiagnosed dyslexia and advocates for inclusive education.
Flink plans to use the funds to expand the program to over 2,000 sites by 2028 and strengthen mentorship and student leadership initiatives amid decreasing federal support for students with disabilities.
