Massachusetts released a statewide digital accessibility and equity strategic plan to ensure all executive agency digital services are accessible to people with disabilities.
The plan stems from a 2023 executive order by Gov. Maura Healy, which also led to the creation of the chief IT accessibility officer role, now held by Ashley Bloom.
The strategic plan includes six goals, such as establishing a governance framework, training employees, and building accessible digital services.
The state launched the ACCESS team to coordinate digital accessibility efforts, provide training, and support agency compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
This work aligns with an upcoming April 24 federal deadline requiring government digital properties to meet ADA accessibility standards.
