AAPD Opposes HHS’s Interim Final Rule Extension

AAPD Logo

AAPD opposes HHS’s Interim Final Rule extending Section 504 digital accessibility compliance deadlines for healthcare-related entities.

The original 2024 rule required accessible websites and mobile apps for federally funded entities, with deadlines based on employee size; HHS now delays those deadlines by one year.

AAPD argues the delay will worsen barriers to care, preventing people with disabilities from scheduling appointments, accessing records, communicating with providers, and getting critical information.

The organization criticizes the last-minute rule change and says it was made without meaningful public input from the disability community and other stakeholders.
